• White Border
• Leaves a white margin around all four sides of the photo.
• Advantages:
• Easier to mat and frame without additional trimming.
• Creates a formal “framed” look and gives visual breathing room.
• Disadvantages:
• Reduces the printable image area, cropping off some of the photo’s edges.
• Borderless
• Prints the image all the way to the paper’s edges with no margin.
• Advantages:
• Maximizes the photo’s size on the paper, preserving the full image.
• Suits a modern, minimalist presentation without frames.
• Disadvantages:
• Requires precise cutting to avoid white slivers or misalignment.
• Framing borderless prints usually needs professional trimming or custom framing.
Summary:
• Choose White Border if you want built-in margins for framing effect.
• Choose Borderless if you want the image to extend fully to the edges for a bold, full-bleed look.
1. Glossy
• Surface Texture: Very smooth with a high mirror-like shine
• Color Performance: Strong contrast and high saturation; colors appear bright and vivid
• Advantages: Sharp detail and strong visual impact
• Drawbacks: Highly reflective (glare); shows fingerprints and dust easily; more prone to scratches
• Ideal For: Landscape shots, product photography, and richly colored artwork
2. Satin (Semi-Gloss)
• Surface Texture: Between glossy and matte, with a soft, silk-like sheen
• Color Performance: Moderate saturation and gentle contrast; preserves detail well
• Advantages: Less glare than glossy; more comfortable to view; better resistance to fingerprints and scratches
• Drawbacks: Not as bright or saturated as glossy; may still show slight glare under strong light
• Ideal For: Portraits, wedding photos, and family keepsakes
3. Luster (Pearl/Semi-Matte)
• Surface Texture: Fine pebble-grain with a soft semi-gloss finish
• Color Performance: Balanced, natural colors and moderate contrast; excellent skin-tone reproduction
• Advantages: Low glare; fingerprint-resistant; added texture enhances perceived quality; more durable and scratch-resistant
• Drawbacks: Typically more expensive than glossy or satin
• Ideal For: High-end portraits, wedding reportage, fine-art photography, and long-term archival prints
Summary:
• Glossy for maximum “pop” and shine.
• Satin for a gentle sheen with good detail.
• Luster for texture, durability, and natural reproduction.
